Hi, how are you? First of all, compliments for your new album ‘cause it’s fucking great!

Ho, thanks for the feedback and complements. Everything is fine up here. Even in Norway the sun is shining theese days…

Can you talk to the readers about the new album?

Yes, this is our third album since the band formed back in 2003. Everything har gone pretty fast, but no time for sleeping. We entered Jacob Hansen studio early January 2008 and spent three weeks recording in total. Drums war recorded in a local studio in Norway, and the rest at Jacob’s place. The album has 8 pretty long song, done in “The Communic way” of arranging and putting it all togther.

From 2004 to 2006 you released one album per year; but “Payment of existence” has taken you about two years of work! Why?

This time we decided that we wanted to do another tour, and that made us push the release date of this album to where we are today. But most of the songwriting and pre-production only took around 8-9 months to complete, but it was more important to do the tour and then focus on this new album when we returned.

Surfing on internet I found a declaretion on “Payment...”, in which the band said “This time we believe that we have created our most diverse and heavy stuff ever...”. What’s changed from the past to nowadays?

Well, not that big changes, but this new one is a bit more heavy, straight and catchy album, I don’t think it is as difficult to get into as our previous ones, and this new one is more “in your face” I think. Still long songs, and the dynamic song structures that we are known of. “The Communic way”. Loads of different atmospheres and blend of different stuff, so quite unique and I believe that most metalfans out there will find something that they like on this album…

I’m curious about the cover...

The artwork was made by Jan Yrlund, and he only had the title of the album and the lyrics and he came up with the artwork out of his own inspiration out of that. For me it means that if you focus to much on your carrer or success, and forget about those small but important things in life, in the end you are maybe the king of the hill but something will be missing - no matter how much money you hide in the bank or under your bed..

About the lyrics which is your main inspiration, and what is the payment of existence?

My main lyric inspiration can be coming from different things. A bit History, questions about religion and beliefs. Self experienced things, and a little bit of fantasy, even a futuristic or Scientific view of the world! The title and the theme for this specific album is mostly about the sacrifices that we have to do to in order to exist. What ancient civilizations have had to sacrifice to their Gods in order to exist, and how ’’modern” Gods still today twist peoples heads to make sacrifices. What we have to ’’pay’’ to become “somebody” - to stand out in the masses and not be just another number in the line.

The previous albums was granted by the magazines with some praises, what do you expect for “Payment...”?

As for our last album ”Waves…” it was a great success for us. ”Waves…” is a great album that I know many of our fans put high up there… It will be “almost” impossible to beat the #1 positions and the press results that we got in many of the biggest magazines on this album. We hope that this new album will bring us another step up the ladder to metal heaven J and establish communic as a band to recognize.

I really enjoyed “On ancient ground”, is there a song you’re deeply attached to?

This time some of the songs had a more personal meaning to me, and I guess “Through the labyrinth of years” or “Raven’s Cry” is this who stays closest to me. I know that we probably will play “Raven’s…” live and I’m looking forward to that.

Are you going to make a new videoclip?

Maybe, don’t know if we will make one yet.

Now this summer we will play a few european festivals. Later this year we hope that we can do some touring so we can present the new songs live.
