Glass Casket
(13-03-2005)

Glass Casket are a piece of our musical future.....we had listen Ian, theyre guitar player. He explainde us some things.....as kindly as possible listening our silly questions.
A simple presentation of the band:

.

Webmurder: As usual, we like to start with a general introduction of the band to our readers

Ian:

Well, I'm Ian, and I play guitar. We're also Adam on vocals, Dustie on guitar, Sid on bass, and Blake on drums. We've been around for a couple years now, and we play kick-ass metal. We have one CD out on Abacus recordings, that's licensed by Bastardized recordings in Europe.

Webmurder:

What do you do in your life besides playing with Glass Casket? Do any of you play in other bands?

Ian:

Four of us are in school, two or three of us have jobs, and two of us also play in Between the Buried and Me

Webmurder:

What has been your first approach to music individually? What about hardcore or extreme music as a whole?

Ian:

We've always had the mindset that we just like to play music that moves us emotionally. Both with the lyrics and with the music, we play straight from our hearts, not because it's what people want to hear, but because it's what we like.

Webmurder:

Your music seems to be the result of a mix between technical and aggressive death metal (ex. Cannibal Corpse) and the sound of Dillinger Escape Plan or maybe old Converge. How do any of these influence you in any way?

Ian:

All the bands you listed are definitely influences of ours. We all grew up listening to Corpse, and got into DEP and Converge when they came around. We're influenced by so much in our writing that it's really hard to pinpoint which influnces us the most.

Webmurder:

What do you listen to right now? Any band or particular genre that you like in particular?

Ian:

I can't say for the entire band, because our tastes vary so much, but personally I listen to a lot of jazz and power metal, such as Charlie Mingus, John Zorn, Blind Guardian, Stratovarius, etc.

Webmurder:

What do you know about the Italian scene?

Ian:

To tell you honestly, I don't know anything about it really, but hopefully we can make it out there really soon!

Webmurder:

Two huge losses struck the extreme music scene worldwide, Dimebag D. & Mieszko Talarczyk(Nasum). Were you fans of their music? Do you think this had some kind of impact on the music scene?

Ian:

Dimebag and Pantera were among the very top of our influences. We've all listened to Pantera since we were much younger, and it's really a sad thing to lose him. I hadn't heard of Mieszko's death, but it makes me sad! I've always loved Nasum, and it's sad to hear, really.

Webmurder:

On the song "In Between The Sheets", which you also did a video of, there's a very "soft" part, in which, most surprisingly, a clean sung part comes out. Are you looking forward to become an Emo band? Will it be your hit single?

Ian:

Haha, no no, we will not be an emo band. Our music is very much alive, and takes it's own shape throughout the writing process. That's just how the song came to be. We've received both praise and contempt regarding the song, but we like it.

Webmurder:

All your lyrics are based on personal issues and, generally speaking, it seems like they talk about dead end relationships. In the booklet you say they don't reflect the band's general outlook. could you give us more explanations?

Ian:

I really can't explain that as well as other members would be able to, because I had nothing to do with that statement. I know there are members in the band that wouldn't write lyrics as angry or as violent as Adam's, and that's all the message means. It's not saying that we are in any way ashamed of our words, because we're not.

Webmurder:

The production is absolutely killer and, technically speaking, you play very tight and precise.

Ian:

Thank you very much! We love working with Jamie and he always brings the best out of us.

Webmurder:

The record is out on Bastardized Recordings in Europe, were they who showed some interest in you? Are you in contact with the other bands on the label or with any other European band?

Ian:

I'm not sure. Abacus set up the deal with Bastardized Recordings, but it's really been great for us so far. We haven't yet had a chance to speak with any European bands, but hopefully we'll get a tour or something put together before you know it!

Webmurder:

This is the first work we ever hear from you, and on your site there is no mention of other records. Is this your debut album? Were you in other bands before?

Ian:

Adam, Dustie and I had a band back in high school that put out a CD, but it wasn't very good haha. Also, Glass Casket (minus Sid) released an EP under the name Gadrel that included Fisted and Forgotten and Chew Your Fingers as well as 3 or 4 others.

Webmurder:

Your site was down a while ago, and it said you suffered from a hacker attack. you have strong and determined enemies, don't you?

Ian:

Haha, I wouldn't say we have any enemies. I'm sure it's just the work of bored kids that live in their parents' basement and have nothing better to do.

Webmurder:

Thanks a lot for the interview, is there something you'd like to add or say to our readers?

Ian:

Enjoy the metal.
