Combo francese questi sconosciuti Cubensis (e forse è meglio che rimangano tali), il loro “Metaphysical Impact” è un album mediocre in ogni suo aspetto: produzione, originalità, tecnica individuale e nell’efficacia stessa delle singole canzoni (aggiungiamo pure una copertina orrenda se proprio vogliamo essere pignoli). Musicalmente i Cubensis attingono da band come i britannici Misery Love Co., gli americani American Head Charge e a tratti negli sporadici momenti melodici anche ai poco fortunati Mushroomhead, insomma un thrash core miscelato al crossover che non desta particolare interesse. In mezzo a cotanta pochezza ci sono alcuni episodi che tuttavia riescono a raggiungere una scarsa sufficienza come “Howover”, “Reaching Uranus” (forse il momento migliore dell’intero album) e “The Revered Wine”. C’è ancora molto da lavorare per i Cubensis, la rabbia c’è, ma se è fine a sé stessa e con poche idee a supportarla è davvero poco utile ed interessante.
